Luxurious homemade lotion without preservatives
- Almond oil – ½ cup;
- Coconut oil – ¼ cup;
- Beeswax – ¼ cup;
- Vitamin E – 1 teaspoon (optional);
- Shea butter (or coconut butter) – 2 tablespoons (optional);
- Vanilla extract (optional).
1) Mix almond oil, coconut oil, beeswax, and Shea butter with water in a double boiler or a glass bowl on top.
2) Heat water with the mixture, until the components start to melt. Stir occasionally.
3) When all components are fully melted, add Vitamin E and Vanilla extract.
4) Pour into a jar – for example, you may use a small mason jar (8 ounces).
5) Use like any other lotion (use within 6 months for the best moisturizing benefits; without preservatives, naturally products like this can go bad after 6 months to a year).
A small tip: this lotion can be good for nourishing baby skin affected by diaper rash, for relieving eczema and preventing stretch marks.
DIY lotion recipe for overnight use
- Beeswax – 15 grams or ½ oz;
- Cocoa butter – 15 grams or ½ oz;
- Coconut oil – 50 grams or 2 oz;
- Sweet almond oil – 30 milliliters or 2 tablespoons;
- Lavender essential oil – 6 milliliters or ½ teaspoon;
- Ylang Ylang essential oil – 4 milliliters or ½ teaspoon;
- Mineral water – 60 milliliters or 4 tablespoons.
1) Melt coconut and sweet almond oils, cocoa butter and beeswax in a large stainless steel saucepan over a low heat.
2) Whisk the water in vigorously.
3) After removing the saucepan from the heat, stir the mixture until it cools down to the body temperature.
4) Then, add lavender and Ylang Ylang essential oils. Mix thoroughly.
5) Continue stirring until the mixture becomes creamy to prevent the oil and water separation.
6) Use clear jars to keep the lotion. Store in dark places to preserve the essential oil longer.
7) You may apply this overnight lotion before going to bed.
Coconut oil lotion for deep moisturizing
- Olive oil – 1 tablespoon;
- Coconut oil – 1 tablespoon;
- Sunflower oil – 1 tablespoon;
- Strawberries (pureed) – 2 tablespoons;
- Vitamin E oil – 2 drops.
1) puree the strawberries in a blender.
2) Separately, mix in a small bowl the olive, coconut, and vegetable oils with Vitamin E. Stir thoroughly.
3) Add to this mixture the previously pureed strawberries. Stir thoroughly once again.
4) Pour into a sealable container or bottle.
5) In slow, circular motions, apply this lotion to the skin and leave for 5 minutes.
6) Then rinse off the residue with warm water.
7) Store the sealed lotion in a fridge.
8) Before using, shake the bottle.
