Home Remedies for Blackheads
As WebMD states, blackheads are a very common skin problem in teenagers and young adults. Contrary to popular belief, blackheads on skin can appear not only on the face but also on hands, legs, neck and back. There are many ways that can help you get rid of blackheads in a natural way without spending a lot of money.
The causes of blackheads on face
There are many reasons why blackheads can occur:
- Excessive skin oils;
- Clogged skin pores;
- Imbalanced fatty diet;
- Genetic disorders and hormonal changes;
- Pregnancy or a disturbed menopause cycle;
- Improper skin care;
- Liver problems;
- Lack of Vitamin C and Vitamin B12;
- Type 2 diabetes.
There are many types of blackhead treatment. You can try cosmetic treatments to get rid of blackheads (like special skin cleansing products). However, using home remedies is another, more affordable and similarly effective way to remove acne blackheads.
Home treatment for blackheads using natural products
Cinnamon for blackheads on face
Famous for its powerful anti-bacterial properties, cinnamon can be added to meals or used as a natural blackhead remover in any DYI skin mask. Cinnamon will also eliminate flaky skin and plugged pores. It can be applied as a body scrub for a smoother and glowing complexion.
Make an organic cinnamon paste with one part of this spice and two parts raw honey. Apply a thin layer over the blackheads on nose, cheeks and forehead. Leave this mask on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with your cleanser and apply a moisturizer. Use this method daily until you see results.
Oatmeal as a natural blackhead corrector
Breakfast cereal is not the only way to use oatmeal. This nutrient-rich grain is also an effective treatment for many skin conditions, including blackheads and irritated skin. Many natural cosmetic brands use oatmeal as a basic ingredient for their products because it mildly cleanses and scrubs the skin, loosens clogged pores and removes blackheads on the face.
Add 1-2 teaspoons of oatmeal to any homemade cleansing mask to sooth irritation and improve skin’s texture.
Green tea can quickly get rid of blackheads
All tehe antioxidants and vitamins in organic green tea can help to remove excessive oil and decrease inflammation in acne-affected skin.
Drink 3-4 cups of green tea daily to improve your facial skin condition and protect it from blackheads in the future.
Lemon juice as an effective blackhead remover for face
A recent study showed that alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) in lemon juice can successfully remove dead skin cells and loosen clogged pores. Vitamin C in lemon juice also works as a powerful antioxidant and stimulates the production of collagen. Home masks with lemon juice or water can also decrease the old acne scars.
Natural blackhead treatment won’t be complete without antibacterial and antiseptic properties of raw organic honey. Add honey to your skin mask to destroy germs and clean pores.
Epsom salts for blackhead removal
Epsom salts are mostly used for a sore muscle relief, but they can also get rid of blackheads because they work as a natural exfoliant.
A mixture of 1 teaspoon of Epsom salts, 4 drops of iodine and a half cup of hot water can work miracles with clogged pores and remove dead skin cells as well. Massage this mixture into the affected facial areas. Let it dry during 10-15 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water and dry with a clean cotton cloth. Do not use this treatment if you have open sores or cuts.
How to make a natural face mask for blackheads at home?
Can’t afford to lose a half your weeks’ pay in a beauty salon or to buy expensive anti-acne creams? This is still not an excuse to walk around with blackheads on face! Instead make your own all-natural and affordable beauty masks to remove those blackheads and improve your skin:
Homemade pore strips with milk and honey for blackheads on skin
Take 1 teaspoon of milk and mix with 1 tablespoon of raw honey. Heat this mixture for 10 seconds in the microwave oven and mix again. Let it cool and apply while it is warm over blackheads. Then take a strip of clean and dry cotton. Gently but firmly press the cotton strip onto the applied mixture. Wait till it dries (at least 20 minutes) and gently peel the strip. Wash what’s left of the mask’s contents away with cold water and apply a moisturizer.
Simple egg white mask for blackheads
Take one raw chicken egg, facial tissues, a small bowl and a clean towel. Separate the egg white from the yolk. Wash your face and clean it dry. Rub a thin layer of egg white over your nose, cheeks and forehead and place a facial tissue over it. Press the tissue gently onto the face. Let it dry for 20 minutes. Use few strips with egg white if necessary. After peeling the tissues do not forget to rinse the face with warm water. Dry the clean face with a towel and apply any natural moisturizer.
Bentonite clay mask for removing blackheads on skin
Make a clay blackhead face mask with bentonite and apple cider vinegar to cleanse skin better than in a beauty salon. Take 1 tablespoon of clay and a cup of apple cider vinegar to make a mildly thick paste. It should be the same thickness as peanut butter. Then wash your hands and with clean fingertips apply a thin layer of this paste to the face. Let it dry for 10-25 minutes. Rinse the mask’s residue with warm water and apply a natural cleanser or moisturizer. Apply this mask at least two times a week for the best results.
Baking soda scrub to remove blackheads on face
Baking soda is another popular component for natural skin remedies. Mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda with a small amount of distilled water in a ceramic or glass bowl. You will get a thick paste that can be applied to the areas affected with blackheads. Let the mask dry for 10 minutes. Wash the face with warm water and clean with a towel. Repeat this mask at least twice a week for cleansing pores.
Blackheads won’t be not a problem if you make a little effort. Natural foods and DYI blackhead masks can work as well as cosmetic products and also won’t burn through your wallet.
