Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort and Hotel, Florida USA – review
At the beginning of January 2017 I had a three-day business trip to Hollywood, FL. When searching for a place to stay I wanted to find a place close to the ocean and great for relaxing after working all day. I searched for many hotels on Booking.com, but the Margaritaville hotel had one of the highest ratings according to the verified guests reviews on the booking website.
I had some more hotel options to choose from, but it was 20% discount for the room reservation for that hotel without any advance payment. It seemed very reasonable for me, so I made the decision to book it. The price for two nights was approximately $800, even with a 20% discount, which is actually a little bit upscale. The sad thing was that half of that price was made by different taxes and fees, for example: room occupancy tax, resort fee, public use fee, etc. I should also mention that breakfast isn’t included in the room price, but for that amount it really should be.
Margaritaville Hollywood Beach is an oceanfront hotel. It’s located only 15 minutes driving distance from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). Private parking costs $35 per day, also the hotel has valet service.
The resort has two outdoor swimming pools on the ground floor, and one adult-only pool with a great ocean view on the 11th floor – for relaxing without children. Other features are Parakeets Kid’s Club, Spa and Fitness centr and FlowRider surfing simulator, which is a great thing to work on your surfing skills.
On the beach, you can use one umbrella and two sunbeds per room for free as well as beach towel. During the days of my stay it was windy, so they didn’t give me an umbrella.
The design of the hotel is unique and good-looking. When entering the front desk, you’ll meet a big statue of a flip-flop. Other decorations also suggest a beachy relaxing atmosphere. The in-hotel store sells Margaritaville brand clothes and souvenirs, and also necessary stuff for the beach.
There are many different restaurants in the hotel area. I ate only in two of them, and I should say that the prices there were reasonable and not increased at all. There is live music in the evening in one of the restaurants.
I booked an Ocean View King room, which had partial view of the Atlantic Ocean from the balcony. The room was spacious with a modern design, it had all necessary amenities. There was a big in-room safe, air conditioner, and lounge chairs. In the large bathroom, there was a tropical-rain shower, which was quite amazing.
As free Wi-Fi was provided throughout the hotel I was surprised that in my room there was good connection only near the bathroom. On the balcony and next to it there was such a weak signal that I couldn’t even check my email.
Long story short, Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort is a new hotel, which is situated in a nice area on the beach, close to the FLL airport and not far from Oceanwalk Mall, Anne Kolb Nature Center and Dania Beach Marina. Despite all the great amenities, facilities and entertainment, hotel rates are visibly overpriced. If you don’t care about the high price, it’s a great choice for relax and vacation.
